We love questions.
Who is Lovecore Apparel?
We are a Deaf-owned small business based in New Jersey, founded by Nickie Mehl, a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. We created Lovecore Apparel so that everyone can wear clothes expressing the culture of love in American Sign Language (ASL), promoting inclusion and identity. Our designs have a cool vibe that helps everyone feel loved and seen.
How does Lovecore Apparel give back?
We’re all about giving back at Lovecore Apparel. Did you know that around 430 million people worldwide live with disabling hearing loss? And that number is expected to jump to 700 million by 2050. Unaddressed hearing loss has been linked to problems with communication, speech, and even thinking. On top of that, deaf and hard-of-hearing people often face discrimination, making it tough to find work, get an education, and fit in socially.
That’s why every year, we donate 10% of our profits to charities and organizations that support and lift up the lives of the deaf and hard-of-hearing. We want to speak up for the rights of the Deaf community, make sure they have access to the resources they need, and provide support in any way we can.
When we pick a charity or organization, we look at things like their goals, the difference they’re making, and how open and honest they are about their work.
Why do you offer limited-edition collections?
At Lovecore Apparel, we get our inspiration from Deaf culture and human connection. We focus on creating designs that celebrate the culture of love in American Sign Language, making sure everyone feels included and can express their identity.
Our aim is to give our customers something special that helps them to stand out in a world full of options. This allows us to fully commit to making fashion fun and to be the place to shop online where being boring is just not an option.
